We are recruiting for a Treasurer and two new trustees

Friends of Charing Cross Hospital is a grant-making charity focusing on health and social issues in Hammersmith & Fulham, West London. We are now looking for a Trustee/Treasurer and two more trustees to join our volunteer board. We are looking for three enthusiastic trustees with excellent people skills and social commitment, who have the passion to make a difference. Apart from the Treasurer, the other two trustees may have a focus on our social media activities and the engagement with potential beneficiaries and partner organisations in Hammersmith & Fulham.

Due to many changes over the last years, we are pivoting the charity with a view to raising our profile and reach within Hammersmith & Fulham neighbourhood. We have had some amazing and very generous fundraising activities over the past few years. We are keen to continue our good work in this area so we can fund lots more projects at the Hospital, with partner organisations and in the local community.

Do you have:

  • a commitment to the charity and a keen interest in health and social issues in Hammersmith and Fulham
  • willingness to put in the necessary time and effort required as a Board member
  • good, independent judgement and strong ethical standards
  • an understanding and acceptance of the duties and responsibilities of trusteeship
  • the ability to work effectively as a member of a team

For the trustee/treasurer position, you will have a guardian role over the charity finances, although final responsibility rests with the board of trustees as a whole. The ideal candidate will have previous finance, accounts or treasurer experience. Similarly, for the other two trustee position experience in social media and local community engagemen would be desirable. At the moment the treasurer role is also covering for the limited amount of transactions per month to be registered in the accounting software, You will be responsible for:

  • general financial oversight of the charity
  • reviewing financial performance and financial investments
  • budgeting and financial reporting (statutory finances are prepared by an external bookkeeping service provider)
  • ensuring the charity has robust financial controls in place
  • liaising with the charity’s bookkeeper and accountant/independent examiner as appropriate.

The organisation is going fully virtual but grant-making activities are based in Hammersmith & Fulham, West London. We are flexible on your location in the UK, as we organise all our meeting and working remotely. These are voluntary roles.
